The Cause Of Lagos NNPC’s Pipeline Fatal Fire Incident revealed


Pipelines-PPMC-fire-incident-in-LagosLast night, Fire gutted the pipelines near the Atlas Cove Depot in Lagos, which belongs to Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), it was reported.

It was gathered that the fire incident, which lasted for several hours, was caused by vandals, who tapped into the pipelines to scoop fuel. Sources within the area told our reporter that the vandals went with Canoe to tap into the pipelines in Ilado area of Lagos, when they caught fire, resulting in thick smoke, which was seen for several hours.

 

The spokesman of the NNPC, Mr. Ohi Alegbe confirmed the incident late last night, saying that officials of the company were already at the scene to put out the fire. He further stated that the incident would not cause fuel scarcity as the pipeline was shutdown immediately the fire was spotted. Alegbe also stated that the extent of the damage would be ascertained as soon as the fire was put out.
