Orubebe: I will not leave PDP

The immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godsday Orubebe, has said he never contemplated leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Orubebe, who was reacting to a report in the media of his alleged concluded plan to join the APC, also denied ever owning a twitter account, where the story was said to have emanated.

The former minister was reported to have posted on his twitter handle, saying: “I have concluded plans to join my folks in the APC to champion and sustain the movement for a better Niger Delta in the new administration.”

Orubebe, who spoke with Daily Sun, however, denied ever having a twitter account or contemplating to join the APC.

His words: “First and foremost, I don’t operate a twitter account. I don’t have any at all. That is a fraudulent account. I have never contemplated leaving the PDP. PDP is my party and I am with my leader, President Goodluck Jonathan. We are planning and re-focusing to make PDP strong. That is our primary objective now.

“We will organise the PDP, make the PDP strong, a formidable party to work for the unity and development of this country.”

Asked where the twitter account must have emanated from, Orubebe alleged it was the Nation Online that circulated the report.

“My media people have already contacted the Nation Online editor and I have also told my lawyer to take it seriously for this embarrassment,” Orubebe stated.
