Manu names final squad for FIFA U-20 World Cup


manu-playersThe Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba has hand­ed automatic shirts to the duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Isaac Success for the New Zealand 2015 U-20 FIFA World Cup.

The duo who are not in the team’s Nuremberg, Germany training camp were named alongside 19 other players for the tournament by Garba who released his final squad yesterday.

Both Iheanacho and Success could not join up with the Fly­ing Eagles in training camp in Germany, and they will now meet the team in New Zealand.

Thirteen of the play­ers who made the final squad to the African Youth Championship made the final World Cup party.

Pyagbara, who fea­tured at the last U20 World Cup in Turkey two years ago, was the biggest omission to New Zealand. The Dolphins striker has been capped at full international level by Nigeria.

Others who did not make it include Abdullahi Alfa, Abdul­lahi Ibrahim Alhassan ‘Muazam’ and Samuel Okon.

The final squad:

Goalkeepers: Josh­ua Enaholo, Sunday Alampasu, Olorunleke Ojo

Defenders: Musa Muhamed, Wilfred Ndidi, Zaharadeen Bello, Izu Omego, Mustapha Abdullahi

Midfielders:Ifeanyi Matthew, Ifeanyi If­eanyi, Akinjide Idowu, Bernard Bulbwa, God­win Saviour, Musa Ya­haya, Kingsley Sokari, Chidiebere Nwakali

Strikers: Taiwo Awoniyi, Chidera Ezeh, Isaac Success, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon.
