school-ASUP-Chief-Nyesom-WikeThe Supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike who spoke through his Special Assistant, Lambert Oparahhas has blamed the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ASUP on the leaders of the union for taking a hardline position instead of handling the issues on ground.

According to the Special Assistant, Lambert Oparah: “I personally attended several meetings initiated by the minister with ASUP representatives where he laid the cards on the table and urged the union to accept the offers made by government and end the strike.”

“It is sad that each time, the union leaders would say they will go back to consult with their members, they end up rejecting the offers made,” he added.
