South Africa’s Kegan has emerged winner of the Big Brother Africa that lasted 91 days carting home the $300,000 prize. Keagan clowned his way to the hearts of millions across Africa, who voted him the StarGame champion. After a nerve wrecking wait in the lounge, the two Housemates were finally put out of their misery by IK. The South African Housemate could not believe it when his name was called out.
The intern manager was announced winner on Sunday at the final held in South- Africa after beating finalists, Prezzo (Kenya); Lady May (Namibia); Talia(Zambia); Wati (Malawi); and Kyle(Uganda).
Anchored by Nigeria’s Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa, who was assisted by fellow country man, eccentric TV personality Denrele Edun, the show featured performances from top African stars including Dbanj and Naeto C.
Lady May, who was tipped as a likely winner, ended up as the last woman standing and the fourth contestant to leave the competition. Lady May who revealed that she had entered for the competition twice but was dropped, was also the only contestant to survive evictions in a miraculous way.
All the finalists were each given a smart phone, DSTV PVR decoder and a Big Boy Scooter.
Keagan says his favourite place in South Africa is his hometown – Cape Town – and that the best thing about the continent is “the amount of cultures we have and the people that make Africa a better place”. Outside of Cape Town, he says his favourite place in the world is Miami, where he lived for 5 years.
His friend and Big Brother StarGame partner Lee inspired him to enter for the show – along with the money on offer! He partnered with Lee as they’re best friends and have known each other for over 18 years. “We know each other’s qualities through and through and will be a vital force in the Big Brother House,” he says.
He doesn’t mind the millions of eyes that will be watching him – in fact, he’s hoping for an invitation to other countries in Africa after the show as he loves travelling!
If he wins the grand prize, Keagan will invest some of the money to help him in the future, give some cash to a charity after some careful research, and help some of his family members.
Finale: Keagan Versus Prezzo!
This is what it comes down to, Africa! Who will be the StarGame champion?
Lady May was Evicted in dramatic fashion this evening, leaning South Africa’s Keagan and Kenya’s Prezzo to fight it out for the USD 300 000 prize.
The two Housemates have done an exceptional job throughout their 91 day stay in the Big Brother House. These two are the resident Don Juan’s of the house. Prezzo let a little love into his heart by hooking up for the most epic and arguably the most tumultuous of the StarGame season.
Keagan on the other hand, started off in Downville and made his way to the top of the pile in Upville.
Just last week, the South African found love int he arms of Zambia’s Talia.
Prezzo, looking suave in a tuxedo, sat dejected in a corner of the lounge and was eventually whisked off to the Live Finale Stage. The Kenyan should be proud of himself for holding his own, throughout a very challenging 91 days in the House. Keagan was clearly stunned by the news and sat in the lounge with his head in his hands. He paced about, clearly still shocked at his sensational win.
In the same vein, controversial Prezzo, who was first runner up when asked if he will date his Nigerian love interest, Goldie, outside of the show, said, “Let’s wait and see.”
Looks like someone has added some much deserved zeros to his bank account!
