Speaking yesterday at POWA Complex, Ikeja, on the state of preparedness of the police and other security agencies for a peaceful general election, Aderanti said that 36,204 personnel drawn from all the security and emergency response agencies would be deployed for the election.
He said, “We have embarked on a show of force on land, sea and air to demonstrate our readiness to confront and contain any irritation that may arise from anywhere. Therefore, we solemnly pledge to be neutral and very firm in all our dealings and operations before, during and after the election.
“We have deployed 500 patrol vehicles, 100 buses, 100 motorcycles, 7 trucks, 3 Black Maria trucks, 1 luxury bus, 3 armoured personnel carriers (APC), one in each senatorial zone, 5 gunboats to man waters and two helicopters for aerial surveillance and patrol.”
He said they have done their requisite trainings and other preparations necessary for hitch-free elections.
“Together with other security agencies represented here by their various leaders, we have worked out a robust security architecture germane to peaceful elections,” Aderanti added.
