UK Sells 4G Mobile Broadband For £2.3bn

UK Sells 4G Mobile Broadband For £2.3bn
The UK Telecoms Regulator Ofcom has raised £2.34bn from its auction of 4G mobile spectrum as it concluded the Auction yesterday. The UK Auction results further exposes the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) the for selling the 4G 800MHz Spectrum for a paltry €13m to South African company Smile Communications in a secret set of deals that experts claims will cause loss of over N53billion to Nigerian Federation Account. The secret deals have already claimed the Appointment of Engr. Bashir Gwandu, the former Executive Commissioner Technical Services of the NCC who exposed the series of fraudulent spectrum sells at a meeting chaired by the vice-president Arc. Namadi Sambo. Gwandu’s removal has generated major national debate over the last few months and it further underpins the unprecedented level of corruption and impunity that characterize Jonathans Administration. Dr Gwandu’s major sins that earned him the removal as a commissioner from the commission on 26th ...

Don’t Underestimate The Power Of Technology

Don’t Underestimate The Power Of Technology
Make sure your new hires are not only computer literate, but tech-savvy. Here's why. Ever tried to teach your grandma to use a computer? I did. While she eventually figured it out, there was a period in which she was too scared to learn. She was afraid to click on buttons and links because she was afraid she would break something. When made properly, software isn't easily broken by amateur users, but it took her awhile to understand that and realize that there were no digital egg shells on the floor. Once she realized she could explore a website without getting in trouble she started tinkering. And, as she played with the site more she programmed her brain to understand how to navigate it. She learned how to learn. This is an important phenomenon to understand—I call the inability to do this "tech block". Tech block is a mental barrier that prevents people from understanding how to use technology typically because they're afraid to tinker. What might surprise ...

PS3 Super Slim Review

PS3 Super Slim Review
The PS3 Super Slim is the third major redesign amongst many generations of minor hardware updates to the PlayStation 3 console. You may even call it the seven year old itch of sorts, but then, you'd be wrong because that would involve replacing the older model with a younger, sexier one. Unfortunately, the new PS3 is anything but that. [caption id="attachment_1773" align="alignnone" width="640"] The new shape is an acquired taste[/caption] The Super Slim PS3 looks unflattering when compared to the outgoing model, despite being 25 percent smaller and 20 percent lighter than it. To be honest, it looks less like a video game console and more like an outdoor grill. The PS3 Slim was a major size and weight reduction from the monstrous original, but any further miniaturisation follows the law of diminishing returns. I don't see any reason why one would choose the Super Slim over the Slim for portability alone, especially since a console isn't exactly meant to be lugged around like ...

Apple’s App Store has now seen more than 1 million approved apps since launch

Apple’s App Store has now seen more than 1 million approved apps since launch
Today, Apple (unofficially) will be celebrating another important App Store milestone — there have now been 1 million apps submitted to its marketplace since July 2008, according to App Store discovery company Appsfire. Ouriel Ohayon, co-founder of Appsfire, provided some details of how the App Store sits today. Of the one million app submissions since 2008, 493,289 were paid and 158,848 were games. Of the 736,247 apps that are currently live 336,270 are paid (around 45 percent), while 120,065 are games (around 16 percent). The app count includes iOS apps only and doesn’t account for Mac App Store apps. Appsfire first announced the milestone was close in a tweet, but The Next Web can confirm it has now been reached: Breaking: today will mark the day the App store has seen 1 million apps ever created since launch (iOS) — Appsfire (@appsfire) November 19, 2012 While it’s unlikely that Apple will publicly share the fact — the company traditionally ...
